(LIPFF) Lake International PanAfrican Film Festival 2018

LIPFF Brief Background
The annual Lake International PanAfrican Film Festival (LIPFF) is a rotational film festival that is
hosted in different regions in Kenya (which have Lakes) and it aims at bringing youth together
and opening up the region to reap the benefits of tourism, intellectual and cultural exchange,
while increasing the cinematic experience by taking African language films to the people.
Lake International PanAfrican Film Festival 2018 opened up for youth and experts to submit
films in any African Languages with English Subtitles made in Africa. The festival only accepts
feature films, short films, documentaries and animation films. It does not accept TV/web Series.
LIPFF 2018 has received 1983 films with 392 films from Africa and 46 films from Kenya. This is a
great increase from 2017 which had 1580 entries, with over 280 films from Africa and 64 from
Kenya.
The films have gone through a 2-step selection process, to check eligibility into festival, quality
of the films and to select the nominees. The LIPFF 2018 Jury consists of filmmakers of repute
whose works have mentored and changed the film sphere in Africa (More info on the jury on
the website (www.theatrefilmlabkenya.com/lippfestival).
This year, the festival will take place in Nakuru-Kenya on the dates of November 7th -10th 2018.
The Festival activities include film screenings, workshop lab, panel discussions, exhibition and
Festival Gala Awards Ceremony. The festival screening is free and open to the public. The
